PENSACOLA, Florida – An Indiana financial manager suspected of faking his death in a plane crash has been released from a hospital in Florida.
Marcus Schrenker had been recovering at a Tallahassee hospital after being found by U.S. Marshals last week with a self-inflicted gash to his wrist at a Florida Panhandle campground.
The 38-year-old investor was booked into the Escambia County Jail on Sunday.
A sheriff’s office spokesman says Schrenker is under special watch.
Authorities believe Schrenker made a phony distress call and crashed his plane to avoid divorce and financial ruin.
Investigators say Schrenker parachuted out over Alabama and sped away on a motorcycle.
The Pensacola News Journal says a court date has not been set.
